The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. The painting is of the Himeji Castle located in Japan. Dating back to the 13th century, the castle's design is supposed to resemble a bird taking flight. It is the largest and most visited castle in Japan and it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
